What is AftaRobot?
AftaRobot is a community-verified taxi price database for South Africa. We collect and publish the latest known prices for minibus taxi routes across all 9 provinces — so you know what to expect before you travel.
How accurate are the prices?
Verified prices are confirmed by our team and the community. Unverified (community-submitted) prices are flagged with a yellow banner — treat them as a guide and always confirm with your driver. Prices change with fuel costs, so we show when each route was last checked.
Why is my search returning no results?
We may not have that route yet. Try searching by town or rank name rather than a school, church, or street address — for example "Lebotloane" instead of "Letlape Secondary School". If the route genuinely doesn't exist in our database, you'll see a direct link to submit it.
How do I report a wrong price?
Open any route page and tap "Report a correction". You can submit the correct price, flag the wrong rank, or leave a note. Corrections are reviewed within 48 hours. Your contact email is optional but helps us follow up.
How do I submit a new route?
Use the "Submit a Price" link in the menu. Fill in the origin area, destination, and an approximate price. Our team reviews all submissions — once approved, the route goes live and is visible to everyone.
What does "Verified" mean vs "Community submitted"?
"Verified" means our team or a trusted community member has confirmed the price is current and the route exists. "Community submitted" means someone reported it but it hasn't been cross-checked yet. Both are useful — one is just more reliable.
How do I save my favourite routes?
Tap the bookmark icon on any route card. Your saved routes live in "My Routes" (top of the page). They're stored on your device — no account needed. If a price changes after you saved it, you'll see a "Price updated" notice on your next visit.
Does AftaRobot work offline?
AftaRobot is a Progressive Web App (PWA). Install it to your home screen for faster loading. Your recently viewed routes are cached and accessible even with a weak signal — though searching new routes requires a connection.
How can businesses or banks use AftaRobot data?
We offer data partnerships for fleet operators, financial institutions, and government agencies. Our longitudinal price database is unique in SA and can inform vehicle financing models, insurance risk scoring, and transport policy. Contact us at dumelang@aftarobot.co.za.
Is AftaRobot free?
Yes — completely free for commuters. We're funded by data partnerships and advertising. No account, no subscription, no catch.
