Grahamstown Taxi Fares Increase from 1 May 2026 — Uncedo Service Taxi Association Routes to PE, King William's Town, Port Alfred and Fort Beaufort

Uncedo Service Taxi Association based in Fingo Village, Grahamstown (Makhanda) has announced fare increases effective 1 May 2026 on routes from Grahamstown to Fort Beaufort, Port Alfred, Bathurst, Peddie, King William's Town and Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha). AftaRobot now carries verified Eastern Cape taxi fare data for the first time, beginning with the Grahamstown corridor.

This is a milestone for AftaRobot: the Eastern Cape joins the platform for the first time, starting with the Grahamstown corridor. The Uncedo Service Taxi Association, based at 37 Upper Raglan Road in Fingo Village, Grahamstown — officially renamed Makhanda — has announced fare increases effective 1 May 2026 across its network.

Local trips within Grahamstown rise from R15 to R18. The coastal routes both increase by R10: Grahamstown to Port Alfred moves from R70 to a standard R80, and Grahamstown to Bathurst from R60 to R70. The fare board lists a second, higher figure for both coastal routes — R90 for Port Alfred and R80 for Bathurst — which operators apply as a peak or alternative fare; AftaRobot records the standard fare with the peak fare noted on each route until the association clarifies the split.

Heading inland, Grahamstown to Fort Beaufort climbs from R100 to R110 and Grahamstown to Peddie from R70 to R80. The two long-distance anchors of the network each rise by R10 as well: Grahamstown to King William's Town — now Qonce — moves from R160 to R170, and Grahamstown to Port Elizabeth, today Gqeberha, also goes from R160 to R170.

With this schedule, AftaRobot now covers eight of South Africa's nine provinces with association-sourced fare data. The Grahamstown routes connect students, workers and traders across the Sarah Baartman and Amathole districts, and every route is searchable in both directions under both the old and new town names — Grahamstown or Makhanda, Port Elizabeth or Gqeberha, KWT or Qonce.
